Bucket of Shrimp Ears at Rails End June 19 2010
| Bucket of Shrimp Ears, alternatively known as the world's most handsome band, led by the self claimed Mayor of Essonville, Albert John Saxby, will perform some of their original hits and new tunes at the Rails End Gallery & Arts Centre Saturday June 19. Saxby, joined by stand up bass player, Ian Pay and Brandon Humphrey make up this popular local group of Highlanders from the eastern reaches of the land. Saxby’s legendary licks and cautionary tales bridge the generation gap, right to the edges of the spectrum. They call their sound “folkabilly”, a departure from the “congabilly” stylings of a couple of years ago, and it sure is good. Young Brandon, the band’s excellent fingerpicking guitar man, approached Saxby in a grocery store line up(must have been a weekend…) looking to jam and became the youngest shrimp soon after. The performance is scheduled on Father’s Day eve, and during an exhibition titled: Paternity Suite, in which artist Laurie O’Reilly reveals the faces of fatherhood. What better way to spend an evening than in the company of gentlemen such as the Bucket of Shrimp Ears, who will be joined by musical guest,Trina West, yet another talented local songwriter and guitar player. Tickets are $10 (advance tickets recommended) and there will be licensed refreshments available. Doors open at 7 pm.
